Road to Rio 2016! (Men's Bracket)
The Olympic Games in Rio will see 12 countries line up. Hosts Brazil will be joined by 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup winners USA, as well as by Nigeria (AfroBasket 2015 winners), Venezuela and Argentina (2015 FIBA Americas Championship winners and runners-up), China (2015 FIBA Asia Championship winners), Spain and Lithuania (EuroBasket 2015 winners and runners-up) and Australia (2015 FIBA Oceania Championship winners).
The last three tickets for Rio will go to the winners of the three 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs).
Fifteen teams will have another shot at fulfilling their Olympic aspirations after securing places at the OQTs. They are:
Africa: Angola, Tunisia, Senegal
Americas: Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico
Asia: Philippines, Iran, Japan
Europe: France, Serbia, Greece, Italy, Czech Republic
Oceania: New Zealand
Along with these 15 teams, another three (3) will compete as hosts of the three OQTs to be held simultaneously from 4-10 July 2016. Each OQT will consist of six (6) participating teams, with the winning team from each event earning a berth for the Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament at the Rio Games.
